Card verification results

The VerifyAvsCvv service returns:

PreAuthorised - this is the overall result and shows whether this card was pre-authorised. This is one of:
- Authorised - if there are no validation or verification errors, and the CVV check passed
- NotAuthorised - if there are any validation or verification errors, or the CVV check failed
- UnableToAuthorise - if the check could not be performed.
AvsMatched - shows whether the AVS check passed (true) or failed (false)
CvvMatched - shows whether the CVV check passed (true) or failed (false)
PostcodeMatched - shows whether the postcode passed (true) or failed (false) the AVS check
CardValidationResponse - this is the validation results and verification messages returned as codes. Your application should translate these codes to messages that are suitable for your business needs and users.

Verification messages

The verification messages are returned by the Card Validation service as codes. Your application should translate these codes to messages that are suitable for your business needs and users.

You will not get all messages and reasons for all cards. For some suppliers and card types, only the generic messages that show whether the check was performed and the overall results are returned.

Card number does not exist

This is returned for card numbers that pass modulus checks, but the card number has not been issued.

	Card holder needs to contact issuer

	The CVV has been declined.

	Reason	132
	The CVV is not the correct length.

54 Details not valid

This error is always returned with one of the following reasons:

	This transaction has been declined because it failed the fraud rules and is therefore considered fraudulent

59 Card schemes do not match

The card scheme entered and the scheme returned by the AVS/CVV card scheme do not match.

Review this transaction before you accept it.
