What is Bank Wizard

Bank Wizard is sophisticated software designed to validate and verify bank account details and card details before you submit them to an electronic payment system.

You can validate the account details for individual or multiple countries. For United Kingdom current accounts, you can also verify that your customer and the account are connected. You can verify the details for both consumer and commercial current accounts. You can also search the bank data and find the Bank Identifier Code (BIC) for a bank branch. For SEPA countries, you can also look up the IBAN and BIC associated with the entered account details.

You can use the Card Validation service to check card details, perform an AVS check, match a card with a card holder, match debit cards to a supplied sort code and perform a velocity check that checks the supplied data and the card usage.

Bank Wizard identifies errors when you capture or process account and card details. This means you can correct the errors while you are still in contact with the customer, significantly reducing the number of rejected payments, which improves customer service and reduces costs.

Bank Wizard's flexible framework means that different countries can be easily added without affecting your current implementation. Experian regularly updates the validation data for each country to make sure you are validating against the latest institution details and modulus rules.

Account checking features

You can use Bank Wizard to:

• validate the format of the account details
• validate that the bank and branch exist
• modulus check the account details
• convert account details to the format required for electronic processing
• return bank and branch information, including address details, SWIFT information and SEPA data
• modulus and format check International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs)
• form the IBAN from the Basic Bank Account Number (BBAN)
• decompose a validated IBAN to form the BBAN
• return the Bank Identifier Code (BIC)
• validate the BIC against the bank and branch details
• search the bank data and look up BICs
• look up the IBAN and BIC for an account.

Additionally for the United Kingdom, you can:

• validate Roll Numbers
• return allowed transactions and Faster Payments information
• verify that the account exists, is open and that the owner is not deceased
• verify that the supplied personal details are associated with the account.

Card checking features

You can use Bank Wizard to validate and verify card details, match cards to card holders and match debit cards to sort codes. You verify the card by performing AVS and CVV checks.

You can validate most types of cards, including credit, debit, charge and pre-paid cards, when you capture or process the transaction details. This means you can correct the errors while you are still in contact with the customer, significantly reducing the number of rejected transactions.

Experian regularly updates the card validation data to make sure you are validating against the most up to date details.

The Card Validation service:

• for all cards, validates the format of and modulus checks the card number (Primary Account Number)
• for debit cards, matches the card issuer with the bank associated with a supplied sort code
• for most cards, matches the card with the supplied card holder details
• for most card schemes, verifies the card exists and performs AVS (Address Verification check) and CVV (Card Verification Value) checks.

The service also:

• makes sure that all the data that is relevant for the card type has been entered
• validates the format of the issue number (where relevant)
• validates the format of the Valid From and Expiry dates
• for valid cards, returns the card type, scheme and issuer.
